Procedure for obtaining replacement Certificate of Proficiency for Ship Security Officers
Reference is invited to M.S.Notice No.1 of 2008 dated 4th January, 2008. The officers holding DGS Approved Ship Security Officers Certificate issued before 31st December, 2007 may request for DGS approved Certificate of Proficiency for Ship Security Officer in the STCW format from the DGS Approved Maritime Training Institute that had issued the Certificate earlier, either in person or by post as follows:
- Enclosing a self attested photocopy of the original certificate.
- Two recent passport size photographs.
- Two separate specimen signature on paper measuring 10 cm x 3 cm each.
- A fee of Rs.50/- for the issue of replacement certificates, payable to the training institute by a demand draft in its favour.
- A self addressed envelope of A4 size with requisite postal stamps.
The DGS Approved Maritime Training Institutes must keep a record of any replacement certificates so issued.

This issues with the approval of the Director General of Shipping and ex-officio Additional Secretary to the Govt. of India.
