BOURBON VESSEL HIJACKED OFF NIGERIA

FRENCH-based offshore support and dry bulk shipping company Bourbon says the Bourbon Leda, an FSIV (Fast Supply Intervention Vessel) and her nine crew members, (comprising five Nigerians, two Ghanaians, one Cameroonian and one Indonesian), were seized off the coast of Bonny in Nigeria during on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

On Sunday 4th January, the company says, it received a call enabling it to make contact with the captain of Bourbon Leda who confirmed that all crew members are in good health. Bourbon says it then contacted the families to keep them informed. A statement says: “The Emergency Unit put together by Bourbon is working to obtain a rapid release in the safest security conditions.”

This latest incident follows the kidnapping of 10 crew members of the AHTS Bourbon Sagitta on 31October. All were released unharmed 12 days later.
